Frequently Asked Questions

Polyurethane vs. polystyrene?

Polyurethane features superior thermal insulation with a factor of RSI: 2.8 (R:16). In addition, since polyurethane adheres better to door surfaces, it provides twice as much resistance to flexion as polystyrene (Styrofoam) in a comparable door. Polystyrene is the material used to make coffee cups.

What are standard residential door sizes?

General standard sizes for door widths are 8', 9' 10', 12', 15', 16', 18' and 20'. Some door series may have exceptions to this rule.

What is "R" Value?

R-value is a standardized measurement of thermal efficiency. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating properties. Overhead Door manufactures insulate doors with a broad range of R-values designed to meet your needs.

Nylon rollers vs. Steel rollers?

Nylon rollers are generally better than steel rollers. Steel rollers tend to be noisier and don't hold up as long as nylon rollers. Steel rollers also have to be lubricated for optimum usage.
